The contracts of the cast of How I Met Your Mother weren’t made public, so nothing can be said about how much money they made each season on HIMYM. But, there is some inside information available if you search a little deeper.

The HIMYM actors had an entire generation glued to their screens for 9 years. Thanks to the massive popularity of the series, the studio made a lot of money. The actors also got their well-deserved paycheck, which was quite a lot.

Jason Segel had only appeared in a few TV shows (Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared) and movies (Slackers, Dead Man on Campus) before starring in HIMYM. After that, he played some high-profile roles in movies like Knocked Up and I Love You Man. He also famously starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which he also wrote himself.

His impressive role of Marshall Eriksen was definitely one of the reasons behind HIMYM being such a massive hit. It is not yet clear how much Jason made throughout the series. However, on his last appearance on the show, he walked away with $225,000.

Alyson Hannigan – $225,000

Alyson Hannigan was the perfect actor for the character of Lily Aldrin. She was seen as the mother figure of the whole group. She also perfectly expressed the flaws of her character, which made Lily more relatable.

We can’t say anything about how much she was paid for the first few seasons. However, just like Segel, she earned $225,000 after her last episode on the show. This puts her as one of the highest-paid actresses of that time.

Cobie Smulders – $225,000

She got a healthy paycheck of $225,000 after the last episode of Season 9. With her consistency in putting in the hard work, she’s managed to gather a net worth of more than $18 million.

Ted Mosby was one of the most beloved characters of all time. The whole plot of HIMYM revolved around him. Josh Radnor was also given $225,000 for the last episode of Season 9.

Ted Mosby was Josh’s breakthrough role. You might be surprised to learn that after HIMYM he put out some folk music under the name Radnor and Lee, as well as a new solo album in 2021. He even guest-starred in an episode of Grey’s Anatomy. You might also recognize him as Lonny Flash from the famous Amazon Prime series “Hunters”.

Neil Patrick Harris – $400,000

We can’t even imagine someone else playing the iconic role of Barney. His perfect playboy aura and childish antics helped with the comedic relief throughout the series. Before HIMYM, he starred as a lead in Doogie Howser, MD. He also worked in movies like “A Million Ways to Die in the West” and “Gone Girl.”

He brought so much excitement to the show. So, it’s not surprising that he was the top-earner of the whole cast of How I Met Your Mother. Neil took home $400,000 after the last episode of the final season.
